Customers are happy with their Apple desktops and laptops, PCWorld surveys show.

According to the magazine, Apple computers received high marks in customer support and generally performed well in reliability. Apple desktops had above-average reliability ratings in all five of the categories that PCWorld measured; laptops from the company scored above average in four of those five categories.

Also noteworthy is Apple's response to customer complaints: Just 8 percent of the Apple owners who had had a problem with their devices said the firm did not resolve their complaint. That's much lower than the industry average.

Apple computers have long won plaudits for their ease of use - and PCWorld's reliability and customer service report is another feather in the Cupertino, California company's cap. It's not just desktops and laptops that are in high demand, though: Apple's iPad is dominating the tablet computer market and looks poised to be one of this year's most-requested gifts.

Indeed, the Consumer Electronics Association predicts that iPads - along with e-readers and laptops - will be the most popular electronics gifts this holiday season.
