Ask YOUNG MONEY: How can I find a marketing job?

Dear YOUNG MONEY,
Hello, my name is Quinnata and I’m a marketing major. I live in Louisiana where there are limited opportunities in the marketing field as far as internships or careers. And today I know you need a lot of work experience as well as a degree to get ahead in this field. Please give me some info on marketing internships and tips on how to find entry-level marketing jobs. Thanks.
Dear Quinnata,
Thanks for contacting us with this question. The first thing to do to find marketing internships is to search by checking with both large companies in your area, college placement offices and various websites such as Internships.com, which is a wealth of information. Probe companies to see if they have open internships in their companies or corporate offices and follow up for details on how you can apply.
Secondly, attend career fairs; there are many that specialize in internships, which are usually held at the beginning of the school year. Also, search for different marketing association websites and contact them regarding opportunities. Make sure your resume reflects your skills and include your passion for marketing in your cover letter!
Good luck!

I’d enjoy hearing from people who have had experiences with government internships.
