Questions About Collections
Dear Melissa Douros,
Evan T.
Dear Evan,
This is common also with fathers and sons who are a “senior” or “junior.” The credit bureau receives information and they need to put it somewhere.
The good news is that you can dispute this. Take a photocopy of the front and back of you driver’s license and mail to the credit bureaus with a copy of the credit report. In a typed letter, explain the situation and what needs to be done to have it rectified. The credit bureau must respond to your dispute within ten days with either a resolution or statement that additional time is needed for an investigation.
This situation may seem desperate, but it is easily correctible.
