How you liberals liking that hopey changey thing?
With that much money we could have paid off mortgages for half of the homes in the USA
so folks could go spend their $ on junk from China

and they say they can't cut anything. Wow, I was amazed looking at this site. We don't need to raise the debt ceiling, we need to cut , cut, cut, cut. We don't have a taxing problem we have a spending problem. We also need to look at waste, fraud and abuse on our social programs and make sure the people who are on it, should be on it. Politicians don't get it, We Can't Afford This Anymore!

Cut all these stupid (NO) Ignorant projects and pay our military people a salary befitting a job being well done. A job that a lot of people wouldn't do for 3 times those wages and are probably some of the first to complain it could be done better.

gee,
how about spending some of that wasted money to help the disabled get employed (training, etc). you would have loyal, hard working people who would strive to stay employed and pay back (over time) almost all of that money in taxes. as it sits now, Vocational rehabilitation for the disabled is at a standstill (with all of those disabled folks representing a drain on strained budgets).

There are a lot more efficient ways to spend stimulus money. unfortunately, I'm not seeing it (as I am blind and on a waiting list 6 months or more long in Arizona).

"$1 million to study the health effects of environmentally friendly public housing on 300 people in Chicago. I bet those 300 people would rather split the million and get out of public housing all together"

$1 million isn't enough to get 300 people out of public housing, be realistic.

The $ 3.4 Million was just a 1/4 of what you needed and you did't even have access to the other properties when you wanted the money. Turtles cross the road for decades its nature. you put private workers to work and took state worker jobs away. what was total amount you spent on this project, I bet about 7 mil.

This article purports to list "stupid crap the money has been wasted on" and " stupid things the stimulus money has been spent on".

Well so-called "$3.4 million underground turtle tunnel" actually went out to bid $1 million under budget. Secondly, the underground part of the project represents less than 17% of the project's overall cost. In fact, 83% of the cost goes to building 2-miles of barrier walls meant to keep motorists safe. Because the 4-lane divided highway goes right smack through the middle of a lake, 12 foot alligators and 40 pound turtles routinely wander on to the highway. This project's main goal is to protect humans from death - a bonus of the project is that it helps protect wildlife and the environment. But, make no mistake, the impetus for the project is human safety. And, yes, it did keep 120 construction workers employed for the 9 months the project took to complete - workers that have been starved for work in this bleak economic time. If your issue is with funding infrastructure improvements, I suggest you take it up with the feds. I for one think this is one of the best stimulus projects out there - it saves human lives, puts people to work, maintains Florida's main artery to the capital city, and it helps the environment - about as far away from "stupid crap" as one can get.
