Debra Karplus

An occupational therapist in private practice, Debra Karplus has a Master's Degree in Rehabilitation with a specialty in Administration; she also an accounting degree.   She is a public speaker and has presented instructional workshops around the country for health care professionals who desire to establish their own private practice.  She has also been a community college instructor and has supervised students.

At age 13, she set up and managed her first business, a day camp for neighborhood kids.  She was founder of a natural food store at age 21 and has started a variety of other businesses since then.  She leads seminars for adults called "Starting your own Small Business."  

Ms. Karplus created and teaches Money Matters, a class in consumer education, entrepreneuring and investing, for students ages eight to fourteen through Parkland College.  Additionally, she is a freelance writer for national magazines and designed and teaches a summer creative writing class for children.  She lives in a Big Ten college town.
