Pressure to get their careers started off on the right track may cause many college students to push themselves to the limit, often applying for as many internships as they can fit into their lives. However, a recent report from the Boston Herald noted some professionals are recommending young people take some time to travel, lest they face the possibility of burning out on their careers early in life. The piece featured the experience of three young women, who dubbed themselves the Lost Girls. Amanda Pressner, Jennifer Baggett and Holly Corbett were all in their 20s with successful careers with various media outlets. They decided, after a 10-day trip, to take a longer journey that lasted about a year. "If you position your time off as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that gave you insight into what you’re most passionate about, you really will be a much more valuable candidate," Baggett told the newspaper. The three have now started a website, www.lostgirlsworld.com, which gives travel and budgeting tips. While some may take the girls' advice, other young people may try to take advantages of the exchange programs offered by their universities. Doing so may provide them with the same kind of life-altering experience.ADNFCR-3389-ID-19856872-ADNFCR
