Great information! Thanks for the article.

I have a cousin who moved to Massachusetts recently before he was able to finish college. He needs another semester of school to graduate, yet he is not familiar with the many resources and opportunities in Massachusetts. He needs advice on suitable CC/colleges/universities that'll enable him to obtain a degree (by accepting most or all of his credits). He is now independent and desperately seeks advice on financing his education on his own. Do you know where someone can get one-on-one free or low cost advice/counseling in the Boston area?

Thank you!

Community colleges can be a great thing, but you really have to be careful about the classes (as the article states). I originally wanted to go away to a University, but my parents wouldn't let me, and didn't listen to me. They refused to help me if I did. I felt that I had to go to my community college because my parents made too much money for me to get any help on my own to attend a university. Turns out the AA I received will help me, but I have to take lots of lower level entry classes for my computer information and technology degree because my junior college couldn't accomodate. I switched my major in hopes that would make a difference, but I ended up getting my AA, wasn't happy with the other major, and am now a few years behind, and a whole bunch in debt from my 'other degree' I tried to pursue. :( Definentally check those classes!

I'd enjoy receiving your comments. Are there any school counselors out there? I'd especially appreciate hearing from you, too.
